On behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 13th International Conference on Group IV Photonics in Shanghai! Starting from Hong Kong in 2004, the GFP conference has been rotating around the three continents of Asia, Europe, and North America. We are pleased to see it continue the momentum, attract strong interests from academia and industry, and influence the development of the data communication world.
Following the tradition, this year’s conference will have three topic areas: Novel Materials and Nanophotonics, Photonic Devices, Silicon Photonic Applications and Systems, covering the entire spectrum of the Group-IV photonics and spanning the range from scientific curiosity and fundamental discovery to advanced applications and commercialization. The program will feature 2 high profile plenary talks, 12 invited speeches, 50 oral and 30 poster contributed presentations. The plenary presentations by leading authorities from academia and industry of the international photonics community will provide an insightful view on the state of the world photonics R&D and market, and address hot topics in the field. “Best paper” and “Best poster” will be selected and awarded to the student contributors. The conference will end up with a post-deadline paper session to report the most recently achieved results.
We are confident that you will find the technical program stimulating and inspiring. It is our hope that the conference will serve as a platform for you to present your research advances, exchange ideas, meet old and new friends, learn new discoveries and current trends. We also wish you will be able to find time to explore the Bund and Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street to make a fully enjoyable and productive conference week in the city of Shanghai.
